Let's have some fun and do something incredible!

Happy National Canning month! 🙂 We will be doing canning parties all month! Join the fun on August 12 for a kid freezer jam party. The party will be LIVE on Instagram at 10 a.m. PST but if you can’t make it we will hold a watch party that night at 7 p.m. PST on the Private Facebook Group page  (more info in the video below) and can along with us, or just learn a really cool skill this is a list of our favorite canning supplies to have a blast in the kitchen with your friends! I can’t wait to see you at the party!

Here’s what you’ll need to make the Strawberry Freezer Jam (to make 1 batch):

  • about 4 pints of strawberries
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 package  Sure Jell for less or no sugar fruit pectin (link is to Amazon, so you can see what I’m talking about…but it’s definitely not the cheapest place to get it.  Kroger stores should have it, also check Winco or Walmart)
  • 1 cup water (easy right?)
  • CLEAN Jars (regular canning jars will work, small clean jars will also work, or you can invest in some cool plastic freezer jars by Ball.) or plastic containers. You’ll want to run them through the dishwasher to make sure they’re SUPER clean.
  • Strawberry huller (it can be fun for kids to use, but if you’re minimalist and don’t like one job tools in your kitchen, we’ll be showing how you can easily hull strawberries with a straw!)

Make sure you’re following along on Instagram (@outsmart.dinner) and in our Private Facebook Group, we’ll be sharing some cool tips for prepping your fruit and the like!
